FERNANDA DE LA PUENTE #PájaraPintaBirds

Tell us a bit about yourself? How did you get into yoga?

I was first introduced to yoga when I was fifteen in Lima. Then I got into Bikram yoga when I was studying in university in California, and I finally fell deeply in love with Jivamukti Yoga when I moved to New York in 2011. Since then I’ve been practicing this yoga method and did my teacher training in 2014 in Nosara, Costa Rica.Yoga has been an amazing tool for me to also explore other parts of myself, like my passion for acting.

Do you have one quick exercise that helps you go through a difficult day or situation?

My go-to practice is either SHAKING meditation or any pranayama breathing practice. Also dancing !

Favorite book/podcast?

Such a hard question! I love many, but as of late I’ve been reading “Biografía del silencio” by Pablo d’Ors, “Becoming Supernatural” by Dr. Joe Dispenza, and “Confessions of an Art Addict” by Peggy Guggenheim.

Podcasts: The Sakara Life Podcast, Under the Skin with Russel Brand and Attached Podcast.

Best piece of advice for these rare times?

Keep nurturing and giving time to that which you are growing within you and outside of you. Whatever you’re working on and growing right now, enjoy the pleasure of sustaining that work with steadiness. Stay on it with persistence and add to it loads of love and care, regardless of what the immediate outcome is. Put energy in the work and keep practicing tolerance and patience so as to not get worn down, but rather get excited the more you work on it.

If you want to be an artist, protect your art and give loads of time and care to the processes that your art entails. Once you know what your process is, respect it, reflect on it, be generous with it and then practice, practice, practice.. repeat it!

What does #ShiningFromWithin means to you?

It means that you are full of who you are. Regardless of what you do; you're not measuring yourself with external validation, but you radiate from that deeper sense of who you feel you are in your core.

What 's your favorite Pájara Pinta Piece?

My rana tótem & the HAND-PAINTED SHINY HAT. Also the PURPLE HAMMOCK BAG ;)
